Family FAQ

You asked:

I heard that my son's game console can also be used as a DVD player. Is this true?

The Online Family answers:

Yes, most video game consoles on the market today -- such as Microsoft Xbox or Sony Playstation -- also double as DVD players. DVD playback makes for a more vibrant game environment. But when playing traditional DVDs via a game console, the picture is sometimes not the best quality. That said, some DVD-enabled game consoles could mean a better picture: the Xbox 360 includes HD-DVD movie playback with an optional external player to allow you to watch movies in high-definition, too.

Tech Tip

Add Memory

If your two- to three-year-old computer is sluggish, instead of getting a new model, you might just need to add more memory. You can do this yourself -- see your computer maker's web site for instructions about where to install additional memory once you purchase it.
