Yes, most video game consoles on the market today -- such as Microsoft Xbox or Sony Playstation -- also double as DVD players. DVD playback makes for a more vibrant game environment. But when playing traditional DVDs via a game console, the picture is sometimes not the best quality. That said, some DVD-enabled game consoles could mean a better picture: the Xbox 360 includes HD-DVD movie playback with an optional external player to allow you to watch movies in high-definition, too.
