I get more instant messages (IMs) than I have time to answer. What's the etiquette for responding to IMs?
Unlike email, you're only expected to reply to IMs when you're logged on to a program like Yahoo Messenger or AOL Messenger (AIM). If you need to leave IM on during the work day, try to use a separate program for friends (so they don't ping you too much) and make sure to change your status or "away" message to "busy" or "on the phone" to keep co-workers at bay when you're on task. If you're really busy, Yahoo, for example, lets you change your status to "invisible" -- you can IM who you need to reach but everyone else on your buddy list won't see that you're online.

"I just bought a new laptop. Is there a trouble-free way to transfer my data from my old computer to my new one?"
If your two- to three-year-old computer is sluggish, instead of getting a new model, you might just need to add more memory. You can do this yourself -- see your computer maker's web site for instructions about where to install additional memory once you purchase it.
